Baker & A Black Cat is an independently owned cottage bakery serving the greater Sacramento region, led by baker and designer Nikki Ozawa.

After graduating with high honors from Le Cordon Bleu in patisserie and baking, Nikki honed her skills in the production bakery at Walt Disney World’s Epcot, where precision, consistency, and storytelling through food are part of the craft. She later returned to Northern California to open Baker & A Black Cat, blending classical technique with a refined, personal design style.

Specializing in clean, elegant cake design, Nikki is known for her meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful use of high-quality ingredients. Working in both buttercream and sugarpaste, each cake is created to be visually striking while remaining grounded in flavor, balance, and intention.

The name Baker & A Black Cat is rooted in long-standing companionship and creativity. Cats have always been part of Nikki’s life, and the black cat has become a quiet symbol of curiosity, artistry, and a touch of whimsy that carries through the brand.

When she isn’t designing cakes, Nikki can usually be found reading, working on her large cross-stitch project, or planning her next cup of coffee.
